Elon Musk Next Steve Jobs ?

John Fed (
Head of Talent Acq at SpaceX) after working directly for Elon Musk for 5 ½ years and having countless hours of meetings with him – I am reasonably qualified to answer this question.  I was formerly Head of Talent Acq at SpaceX and working for Elon has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life, and one for which I am deeply grateful.

Elon is without question one of the most brilliant, dynamic, and charismatic people that I have ever met.  It was an honor to build an effective working partnership with him and help build one of the world’s most amazing companies.

I have recently read articles comparing him to Steve Jobs, but in my humble opinion, Mr. Jobs in all his greatness has nothing on Elon.  Elon is Wernher von Braun, Howard Hughes, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and every other badass, all rolled into one.

Elon reads voraciously; he taught himself how to design and build the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft by reading books. Elon is an astute student of history and has studied all the greats mentioned above, and many others – he combines their insights along with his own innate almost unnatural talents.

Elon is a phenom, some sort of exceptional freak of nature. His mom Maye Musk (a stunningly beautiful spokeswoman and professional speaker) congratulated him on the recent successes with SpaceX and Tesla, and in that private conversation she said that his only response what that he was just getting started...

So again, a bet on Elon continuing to define #winning is one I’m willing to make.

Meet Google Guys: Fantasy or Reality ?

                                  Fantasy or Reality ?

One of my friend had a chance to meet Larry Page and Sergei Brin back in those days when Google was a newly built company in the market. This was way before they moved into their present space at Shoreline so it was a long time ago, maybe in the late 90's.He told me about his experience that he knew the company, but only as the search engine and not really the guys behind it.
All the employees were lined up for their shots. They were getting ready to go on a ski weekend at Lake Tahoe.
These two guys come up and someone whispers in my ear, "Hey, the next guys in line are the Google Guys."

"Who or what is a Google Guy?"
"You know, the founders of the company, the guys who started this!"
"Really, what are their names?"
"Larry Page and Sergei Brin."
Sergei was very brave. He went off to get his shot without a word, he was ready.
Larry was not so sure. I held his hand while my friend gave him his shot.
Now a days those who worked at Google said that it a common thing to see Larry Page and Sergei Brin at Google but they did not negotiate with other. They always wanted to reach in time at their destination that's why they did not interact with others.

Larry Page or Sergey Brin ?

Who has higher rank in Google ?

Larry Page has 23,320,246 of Class B and Class C stock each, while Sergey Brin has 75,000 of Class A, 22,743,612 of Class B and 22,818,612 of Class C stock . From both a pure stock ownership perspective and from a voting rights perspective (Class B stock carries 10 votes, Class A carries 1 vote and Class C has no voting rights ),Larry Page has more ownership

Larry Page was also the CEO after having taken over the role from Eric Schmidt on April 4, 2011 at the same time Sergey Brin focused only on strategic projects and new products . Some companies have co-CEOs, and in this case, Google does not.

For the curious, historically, Larry Page always had more ownership. According to page 102 of their amended S-1 filed in 2004 , Larry Page owned 38,593,200 shares (or 16.0%) of Google while Sergey Brin owned 38,489,408 (or 15.9%) prior to their June 2004 offering. After that, their ownership drops to 38,110,785 (or 16.0%) and 38,007,935 (also 16.0%) respectively.

And according to page 87 of the same amended S-1 , while both Larry Page and Sergey Brin were co-founders and on the board of directors, Larry Page was the then-CEO from September 1998 to July 2001.

On the above detail  Larry Page has higher rank in Google Inc.
